Naturalist….Sustainability….Ecosystems….Species Web…..
These are a few of the words discussed and defined by Sister Lynn during her presentation to the Baden Academy Naturalist Club meeting. She demonstrated to the students by having them act out parts of the food web and also used a Powerpoint presentation to further instruct the students on how important everything is to the ecosystem from the blades of grass to animals and trees. Sister Lyn then took the students for a tour of the 88 acre property where they saw beautiful gardens, a grotto with water cisterns, and many habitats outside (including a drey, a squirrels nest, high up in a tree). They also saw grape farms and chickens, too! It was a very interesting and enlightening experience for all.
Next meeting on December 4th, the students will be planting milkweed. Everyone is to bring in gallon milk jugs.
